Kirman
Situated in the south-central region of Persia, Kirman has one of the longest and most glorious traditions in the history of workshop carpet manufacture. During the 19th century, following the revival of crafts in Persia, carpet production flourished, attracting famous designers and weavers and as a result, wonderful carpets were produced.
This salmon ground Kirman is a typical example of the most popular type produced during the beginning of the 20th century. This is due to the design style, which is more “westernized” than most oriental carpets produced during that period. It was made in a well-organized carpet factory, hence the cartouche on one end, revealing the name of the manufacturer.
