Bidjar
Inhabited mainly by Kurds, the western provinces of Persia were far less affected by conquests and historic upheavals which afflicted the urbanized districts during the 18th century. As a result, the continuity of the Persian carpet tradition was least interrupted by external influences. At the same time, these regions were at the forefront of the revival of crafts which followed the return of peace and prosperity in the 19th.
This very powerful circa 1900 Bidjar has a remarkable color balance which makes it suitable for all kinds of decorative styles, whereas its rather small for a Bidjar size, makes it rarer and more desirable. It belongs to the “overall design” types and demonstrates the beauty of the “Garus” motif, in a most charming way.
