Parmakli Kilim

This impressive 19^th century central Anatolian kilim, possibly made in Karapinar, bears four compartments containing an equal number of concentric elongated medallions, resulting in long finger like lines, called “parmak” meaning palm of a hand  in Turkish, hence the name “parmakli”. This type of kilims belongs to a very small group, but at the same time to one of the oldest in history. Besides being highly decorative, this small kilim is in exceptionally good condition.
